LEDs get the worst rap and seem to be easy for a laser lipo company to bash. The buzz word "laser" almost always seem more effective than LEDs. I went to the park and asked over 100 people, which is more effective, laser or LED and others LED or laser. Exactly 100 people out of 100 on my li;st said laser. Just the name gives the LED companies a bad rap.

If not using LEDS if you don't want to get a 45 min to an hour treatment when the laser can take 6 to 25 minutes, many people choose LED treatment just because its cheaper. The other people use LED for the recommended reason. Using it for cheeks or fat on the neck, 2 to 4mm of thin skin depth is no problem for the LED lipo lasers. The depth of the laser has to do with the nanometers, not wattage.

Penetration takes about 1 hour 45 min. You just have to wait wait wait. Lasers attacking at 635 nanometers with hundreds of diodes can do it in just 6 minutes. The thing with LED is that it has more surface area coverage but goes no where near as deep as a laser.

The non-super luminous LEDs take the longest and the newer hybrids have a similar effect of the laser. The Japanese built super luminous Leds are the most expensive of the 4 major LED companies that are making lipo lasers.

Japanese LEDS:

There is no faking it. Japanese has its own signature. The German LEDS are the closest to the original Japanese technology you can get. Know that LEDS are not colimated (coherent or light in a straight line), but cover the most surface area. The super luminous types are the only types I would consider if choosing LED over laser. If you come across a LED based lipo machine, the first thing I look at is if it is has the Japanese LEDS. Japanese LEDs are much brighter and stand out from the standard LEDS as used in the first and 2nd generation LED lipos.
